Saving you from Eid Henna Anxiety

Saving you from Eid Henna Anxiety

1. Palms Vs Hands
Your palms stain darker because they have thicker, keratin-rich skin and stronger blood warmth, allowing henna to bind deeper.

The tops of your hands have thinner skin, less warmth, more sun exposure, and more washing, so they stain lighter and fade faster.

2. Thin Skin
Some people, myself included, naturally have thinner skin. Because henna, jagua gel, hengua binds to keratin in the outer skin layers, thinner skin tends to stain lighter, especially on the tops of the hands. This is completely normal.

On thinner skin, henna may need to be left on slightly longer to reach its best possible depth, although skin biology still sets the limit. Past a certain point, keeping henna on for extra hours will not dramatically darken thin skin. Heat (only Natural Henna), good prep and aftercare matter more.

3. My Results
I have used many natural henna brands, including my own, and my cones consistently stain darker on my customers’ skin than on mine. Differences in skin thickness, warmth, and aftercare all affect stain results.

Lighter stains do not mean weak henna paste. Quality checks are done on my palms, which are the most reliable area to assess dye release and stain strength. Results elsewhere naturally vary by skin type.

4. Skin Type
Your skin condition matters too! If you have dry skin or eczema, stains may not be as dark as expected, can appear uneven, and may fade faster.

5. Pre-Henna Prep
Do not exfoliate or do a manicure the day before or day of henna appointment, as this removes the skin henna needs to stain.

Exfoliation and manicures are best done 2 to 3 days before, giving the skin time to rebuild a stable keratin layer.

6. Natural & Real
Lighter tops, darker palms, and natural fading are not flaws. They are signs of real Natural Henna, Jagua Gel & Hengua.

7. What's the Next Step?
Start by researching your preferred henna artists and checking that they have credible reviews about the Natural Henna, Jagua Gel & Hengua they use. If you’ve never had issues with stain outcomes, do not automatically assume it’s the artist. Sometimes your body reacts differently to Natural Henna, Jagua Gel & Hengua at different times. A good artist will work with you and help you get the best possible result. You can also ask if other clients have had similar results to see whether your stain outcome is typical.

I recently developed an allergy to Jagua Gel, so it is possible to get different results from what you usually expect.

If this is your first time with Natural Henna, Jagua Gel & Hengua, let your artist know. They can guide you on what to expect and suggest alternatives if needed.

If you know your skin tends to stain lightly, ask your artist for tips on aftercare such as oils, clove steaming, and the best ways to keep warm so we can help you achieve the best possible outcome! Different aftercare applies to Natural Henna, Jagua Gel & Hengua so pay attention to what your artist says.

Eid Henna is just as important to us as it is to you. The last thing we want is for your henna to disappoint you. While we cannot control how every body reacts, we are always happy to advise and help you get the best result.
